Presentation. November 13, 2023.
A gathering of 13 members enjoyed the camaraderie and Barbara’s second installment of a lecture that she first presented to the Club twenty-five years ago!
Barbara provided an overview of current legal issues in real estate brokerage. She talked about the recent class-action lawsuit of buyers against the National Association of Realtors, and its implications for the industry in the future. She discussed varying types of representation, and why the costs are allocated where they are currently. She went over other new developments in video and audio surveillance, as well as “love letters” to sellers, and escalator clauses. As a nonpracticing attorney, Barbara gave her take on all of these changes, and answered questions about the future of housing in our region, affordable housing, and the reasons why she thinks that people will still use agents.
