This forty-second fanfare is constructed from the pitches A, D and A, pitches drawn from the acrostic of the American Dietetic Association. As this Association works with topics of interest and critical concern to all people, the composer has embraced the similarities between the ADA musical motive and the material of Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. This fanfare was premiered at the 1997 conference of the American Dietetic Association in Boston, Massachusetts, as the result of a collaboration between the composer and the ADA president, Polly Fitz.
