March of the Nightcrawlers
(1997) 2:20
(212 alcl bcl 1/2atb sx/121 euph1 elec. Bass, 5 perc)
Level: 2nd year band
The title of this short piece is somewhat ambiguous, as it may refer to the sounds and fun of children hunting nightcrawlers or it could refer to an actual procession of nightcrawlers. These worms are both long and short, both cute and gooey, both squirmy and elegant. It is certain, however, that a procession of worms would have to be very careful of where it marched a road could be hazardous and dangerous. As well, children hunting nightcrawlers would have to be careful not to step on the worms. Create your own story for this piece. You will probably be right!
